The power of the sun is the most powerful and abundant natural resource our planet has to offer. Not only is it a source of light and heat, but also controls the climate and life processes of plant life on Earth. Harnessing this power and converting it into electricity through the use of solar panels is the most environmentally friendly form of deriving power from a natural resource.
First and foremost, the sun shines every day and its energy supply will never run out. While natural gas, coal and oil are renewable resources, over time they will become less plentiful and the environmental impact of mining or drilling for these fossil fuels can be tremendous. Solar power creates no carbon emissions which pollute the air and contribute to the greenhouse effect causing global warming. The power of the sun can be utilized to power commercial, residential and industrial needs. Solar panels can store enough energy to run lighting, televisions, radios and other devices, thus conserving electricity and lowering energy costs. There are also solar rechargeable batteries eliminating the need to discard non-recyclable batteries which can harm the environment.
Though dependent on location and size, the use of solar panels to create energy can greatly reduce the impact of harmful pollutants released by other energy resources.
